A true horse horror story! Ms. McGoldrick delivers a completing story that again is filled with her true knowledge of horsemanship. This book is so different from The Dressage Chronicles yet still makes me want to turn the pages! Wonderfully written.
I thought this story was chilling and so very well written. All I could think of is "Rollkur"! How about this for a frightful future There's no land and no horses and everyone competes on a simulator they "trained" up the levels.
I've enjoyed so much Karen McGoldrick's sequel of books of the Dressage Chronicals. I thought this would be along those lines. No, it wasn't. It was creepy...a woman selling her soul to the Equine Devil in exchange for winning.
For me I was very disappointed. Please continue with Lizzy, Francesca and Margot!!
Good story. A dressage twilight zone. A cautionary tale to be sure. It will stay with me in my thoughts
Stephen King meets competitive dressage. Not at all what I expected from this author. Eeewwwwww. But I loved it and the story haunted me long after I read it.
The Price. was a very appropriate name for this story. To me the price Eva paid to shoot up to the. top of dressage' s ratings was like making a deal with the devil and the consequence was losing Glimmer; he traded places with Professor, the dressage horse simulator. This was a bit creepy,but had a moral be careful what you wish for!
I love the Dressage Chronicles series by this author so when this short story became available I was quick to purchase. It's a quick, engaging read but may have you furrowing your eyebrows along the way. I'm not sure I fully grasp the concept or the "simulator" but what you can take away from the story is important. Just how far would you go to achieve your dream? Where is the line that would surpass ethics and morals for you? Do you cross that line to get what you want? Success at any cost? This is the type of question people have to answer every day. Did Eva choose correctly? That's something the reader will have to decide.
